Viking Iron Axe


Ca. 1000–1200 AD. Viking Age. An iron axe head with a curved beard and cutting hedge, narrow circular socket, and heavy hammer end. The blade to one side and the hammer to the other side suggest its use as a multi-purpose tool. Good condition; custom-made stand included. For more information on Viking axes, see Hubbard, B.
